Q1. How long have you been at British Gas?
I started training with British Gas in January 2012.
Q2. What were you doing before you joined British Gas?
Before joining British Gas I spent 7 years plumbing with a very small company and no opportunities to progress my career.
Q3. What made you decide to join the apprenticeship/trainee scheme?
I have a few friends who work for British Gas/ have worked for British Gas before retirement and have heard a lot of positive comments. I was also looking to further my qualifications in something similar to what I was already doing.
Q4. Can you remember your first day of your training? What was your initial impression?
Everyone was very proud to work for BG and most of the trainers had been in the company for over 15 years. I was also the only girl in a room of 13 lads!
Q5. What’s been the most memorable part of your training so far?
Having a laugh with the said 13 lads that I was quite terrified of on my first day|
Q6. What do you enjoy most about being part of the British Gas apprenticeship/trainee scheme?
Meeting new people and gaining extra skills.
Q7. What are you most looking forward to when you qualify?
I’m looking forward to improving my skills and exploring the possibilities of furthering my career.And of course the pay rise, but it’s great you get paid from day one in training.
Q8. Where do you see yourself in five years time?
It’s early days yet but I’ll be a qualified Smart Energy Expert in a few weeks. There are lots of opportunities for me there after, I’ll just have to work hard to get there.
Q9. How do you spend your spare time?
I enjoy Cycling, Festivals, Holidays, Music and friends take up a lot of my spare time.
