British Gas are continuing to support the TEENTECH Events, inspiring tomorrows innovators.

The latest event was at Doncaster racecourse on 10th July. 20 Businesses were hosting stands in the ‘Insight Zone’ and running interactive events for young people aged between 12 and 13. The students

arrived in the Insight Zone in groups of 5, accompanied by a business Ambassador and a teacher and they spent 15 minutes at each stand. Some businesses had the students designing apps, others were engaging the students letting them create magazine covers and we at British Gas ran a wiring wizardry competition.

Lots of students enjoyed speaking to one of our apprentices Dan Morris who has been an apprentice with us on Service and Repair for 18 months and Dan event got to meet his old teacher as his old secondary school attended the event.

At the end of the day, Maggie Philbin hosted the event and  presented the awards alongside the company representatives, to the winning schools at each of the challenges.

The winners of our Wiring Wizardry prize were McAuley Catholic High School Team A, they did really well working quickly and accurately.

British Gas had an amazing time, we really enjoyed the day and the feedback from the students via their voting buttons was that over 50% of them see science and engineering roles as a great career choice, when this was around 10% at the start of the day. Other feedback was that they felt interactive events are a far better way to understand what a role involves and they really got a lot out of the event.

Look out for a TEENTECH event close to you.
