We supply gas and electricity to millions of homes and businesses throughout the country, as well as installing and maintaining central heating and gas appliances. Our team of 12,000 people in our UK call centres and our 8,000 highly trained engineers are focused on providing our customers with the best energy products and services.

With nearly 16 million electricity and gas customer accounts and approaching 9 million services relationships with business and residential customers, supported by our engineers, we are a big business. Being a successful large business is great, but what we are really investing our time and effort in now is ensuring that we are a smart business leading the way into a new energy era.

British Gas is a responsible energy supplier. We are already the biggest supplier of green power to homes in Great Britain and our electricity has the lowest CO₂ of any major UK energy supplier. We are making further investments to ensure we continue to lead the way in green energy production.

We are pioneering new ways of helping our customers reduce their energy consumption and even generate their own energy supply. From energy audits and installing home insulation, to smart meters we are helping customers better understand and reduce their energy consumption. Our investment in new technologies, such as solar power, fuel cell boilers, biomass heating and household wind turbines, provide our customers with cutting edge technology to further reduce carbon consumption.

A smart business needs smart people. We invest a great deal in our people, whether it’s training our engineers (no one trains more in the UK) or supporting our people to become ‘Energy Experts’, we know that developing our people will be the cornerstone of developing our business.
